Respiratory Therapy

The York General Respiratory Therapy Department provides treatment, testing, and devices to assist patients with respiratory function.

Respiratory treatments are ordered by medical providers and may include aerosol therapy, lung volume expansion therapy, postural drainage and percussion of the chest, administration of oxygen and humidity, or mechanical ventilation to assist the patient with breathing.

Pulmonary function testing aids in the diagnosis and evaluation of lung problems. In addition, a neurodiagnostic test can be done to aid in diagnosing electrical abnormalities within the brain.

The staff is on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to meet patient needs in the Emergency Department or in patient areas.
