A Better Future for Elder Care in Our Community

York General commissioned a 2021 study that identified a significant pending shortage of independent, memory-care, assisted, and skilled-care living units in York County, where more than 20 percent of the 14,000 plus residents are now 65 or older. Looking forward, the study indicates a pressing need for:

  • More single occupancy skilled-nursing rooms
  • More memory care options
  • More assisted living and independent living units

The numbers are important. But the real value of these facilities will be the continuation of the York County quality of life for those seeking to downsize, needing varied levels of care in their daily routines, and perhaps requiring more intense assistance during their later years in life.
